Sweet Dell laptop $611 shipped

Saw it here

Evalue code is 6V620 - D81208D

$25 off coupon is B036FDAB63CA

Basically you get an Inspiron 2.3ghz 14" screen, cdrw/dvd combo,256 ram (nice, dont have to hassle with ram upgrade unless u really want to) smallish 20g hard drive but probly fine for lappy, modem, ethernet. (no floppy)

Tax to Va was $37..total was $611ish after $250 rebate...some of you might not like the rebate part of it.

Inspiron

The only things I changed were that I chose earthlink as opposed to AOL, and I chose Norton over McAfee...cuz I wouldnt put AOL or Mcaffee junk on my worst enemies comp! lol

I was really digging having an even 4000 posts...so I messed that up to post this..so you know I think its a good deal! lol

JP

I configured it to 574 shipped AR. It seems that there's a $49 shipping discount (free 3-5 day shipping) with any new dell home system. No tax in NY makes it a killer deal!

yeah, you got the same deal I got except I had to donate $37 to the governers shoe collection or whatever.

There wasnt a lot of configuration choices although I did look at that $29 battery but I dont see the difference and it doesnt explain it at all...if it said it gave an hr more life I would have probably sprung for it.

Hey JP, looks like the $29 battery is a spare.

...To take full advantage of your notebook's mobility, get an extra backup battery, tested and validated for your Dell Inspiron notebook and fully supported by Dell Tech Support

That laptop has integrated graphics, doesn't it? I know a gal who needs a good laptop, but a program she uses for her job (makeup artist) requires at least 32 and prefers a 64 meg video card. Leaves her outta luck, huh?

Well actually, I booted my Inspiron 1100 and it shows 64m Video ram when I click the screen, properties,adapters..shows 64M. Now I did add 256 for a total of 384M so Im not sure if that affected it or not. I could pull the 128 stick out and see if the 64 decreases, lol.

There are NO options in the bios for anything on these, lol. It has one setting , well, more of a "listing" cuz its unchangeable where it says "uma video ram" or "uma video memory" and it says 1M, lol.

Obviously it has more than 1M.

Im not sure if the 64 means shared, but I dont think so...cuz when I right click "my computer" it still shows 384.

Just not sure.

It should be shared memory.

Daughter off to college in Jan.

Perfect timing
NC did bust me open with a $57 tax bill on it though.
But still at $631.68
Pretty good for 256 RAM
CDRW/DVD drive
20 GB HDD and XP

Thanks! JP
