I have bought 4 of these and I do beleive them to be hard modems. They do not affect my processor . They come 56flex but download the v90 flash and I get connect rates of 52000 with they one that is in this pc now. I had a Lucent winmodem before this and I could tell the effect on the processor however the lucent gave me consistent 53,333 connect rates

So the bottom line is that they are working out for you at a relatively low price.

Did you need the PCI slot or was the ISA just incendental ? ISA bus works at 16 bit while PCI bus at 32 bit, which is why your BIOS will isolate ISA components from the PCI bus.

If you havn't already done so, go to the Diamond site and see if they are still providing support; there may be upgrades for your modems.

"SmartComputing in Plain English" .Com has some good articles on Modems I tried to link but urls were giving me problems."The Driving force onModems" or such I found informative.

Good luck,ripos

[EDIT] Sorry, did you say you downloaded the V90 already--good show !

P.S.ripos, do they have a mic and headphone connectors?

You may have talked me into one for an old machine!
SW ?
Jumpers ?

So do I undrstand they are less of a drag on your system ?
Could also be better SW;dk.

The ones I got were SUP2073's (Model207x) They dont appear to be speaker phone models but they do list them as hardware models. Here is a link to there comparison page http://www.diamondmm.com/default.asp...=modem_compare

Quite an excellent chart, ecpesially how widely used Supra's are. I was trying to post some links to modem sites on the Tech Sisc Forum and I 'll probably link This (with credit to you , unless i hear otherwise). Thanks.

Actually the chart belongs to diamondmm.com and by no means do I want to take credit for it. All I did was access it from their site. Thanks for offering though
