at first I thought you meant computer cookies, like the ones taking up about 100mb of disk space on my comp.

Anyone ever think that this survey might have been a 'planted' thing? I only saw a link to a survey, made on pages colored in non-typical 'pink'-ish colors.... certainly M$ likes blue, do they not? Maybe this 'survey' was developed and intended to match emails here with emails in the survey, and possibly use that in a legal fashion?

Don't worry yourself, there was no disclaimer. If they could take legal action like that, I'd put up my own website that offered awesome free stuff in exchange for filling out the survey, then sue everyone that took it.

embj, that doesn't say anything about free cookies... it's just a form to get put on their mailing list.

What legal action do you think they could possibly take?
Last I checked it was not illegal to lie on a survey, and nowhere on there did it say that you have to be a developer to quialify.

On the other hand, I've developed a few programs in my day, who says I'm not a developer?

There cannot, and will not be legal action off of a site like that.

Maybe not because of what is said in the survey, but when forum people say things like "oh, great! Maybe I can finally get a legit copy of xxx", well, that is one angle where 2 instances of admission (the forum post is public and the survey reward choice is private) along with any common email address might come in handy to a prosecutor wishing to pursue an issue or two. Just a thought.

If any of you took the time to look...

All of the whois servers go back to Microsoft. All of the technical contacts for the domains are Microsoft.

Which boils down to Microsoft pointing the DNS for that site. You cant just add yourself to anyone's DNS.

dern, I finnaly reached the end of the survey after posting on page 2 of this. I didn't complete it though because I didn't like the bit about gratuity and e-mail and stuff. I coulda gotten flightsim2 for free. But o well. I guess really I shouldn't be filling that thing out anyway. Its for M$ to get real devs input
