Great 64MB MP3 player - $44.88

MTV selected Now Evolution of all MP3 player manufacturers to make their branded portable MP3 player - EV-64AMX MP3 player - 64MB built in flash memory, accepts Smartmedia cards up to 64MB, on board microphone, USB - MTV branded for $59.88 with a $15 rebate. Rebate is from J&R only. It looks really cool, too. Or, another pretty good deal (no rebate, though) is the 256 MB player for $119.88. I don't know of any other 256MB player for that little money. It has two SD/MMC slots for up to another 128MB. Firmware upgradeable, too! Maybe it will support Ogg Vorbis down the road

Oh yeah, extra 64MB smart media cards are $20 bucks from them, too.

similar one at computer geeks as in post below - but coupon code doesn't work - $67.50

yes, I didn't see that one - a good deal, too! Looks sleaker - expandable to 192MB.

Also, at computer geeks it is a geek special so I don't think the coupon codes will work - at least the ones I tried - no 10% off.

Cool, I'd love to get one of those, but I'd rather get a 128 version. Due to the fact that I use WMP9 to rip CD's, all of my songs are wma. The wma extension is weird. It's about 1/2way between wav and MP3 in terms of space, but offers superior quality. Unfortunately, even the SMALL files are 8 MB and can get up to 20 MB. On a 64 MB player, I wouldn't be able to fit many songs. Good find though. I was looking at an RCA MP3 player but turned it down for several reasons. One reason was it had to convert your songs to an MPY format before sending it to the player. Does this affect anything, and does this player do that as well?

Well, I ordered the 256MB version. It will play both types of files. With the upgradeable firmware, hopefully it will be able to play newer formats that come out too. I'll post once I get it and try it out.

256, huh? WOW. That's nice. 8 hours baby. I'd love to get one of those with a couple smartmedia cards. Unfortunately, you're probably better off getting an Archos 10 GB jukebox for 180 bucks (it was actually on sale for 130 a few weeks ago!!!!)

Tech Price drop

The price dropped on the 64MB player to $59 - $25 rebate = $44. Okay, it's only 88 cents less, but . . .
