Looking for an obsolete system

basically, the computer my parents are running has a less than 100 MHz processor, which is totally fine with them, but the tax software my dad got for this year requires at least 200 MHz. While he usually has been able to run stuff over what the comp should be able to, apparently this time it's no go. So I'm looking for a system roundabouts 400 MHz or so (I say he should go higher since you can get really cheap comps up to about 1 gig now most places, but he insists on staying this low). Also, I'm personally looking for a laptop to take on the road with me, and to be able to do my Java programming homework, probably surf the net. so I'm looking for

1. a desktop, around probably 400 MHz
2. a laptop, probably no need to go over 1 gig, but hopefully no less than about 500 MHz or so.

I just don't really know where to look for older equipment.

If price is the issue, what is his max budget? With the price of PC's being lower than ever, he can get a pretty advanced system for the price you may find an outdated one for.

I stand corrected. $84.00 is pretty cheap. Nice find MDS.

www.cyberspacemarket.com has some nice deals. We've purchased a few from there and have been pleased with the results.

www.varsource.com has some very nice deals once in a while too, like the ones we got there last week: Dell OptiPlex P2 450s w/ 17" monitor for $200. Unfortunately they're out of those already. (you have to call them for a list of their used stuff...)
