What ISP deals are you guys getting?

I am mostly interested in dial up. For broadband, my choices are Charter Cable and Southwestern Bell DSL.

I just can't believe people will pay $25/month for Earthlink or will pay anything for AOL.

Netzero Juno is cool with the 10 free hours.

But I'd like one that I can use to download stuff for 10 hours a shot, here and there.

I know lots of people sign up for free MSN, then free AOL, and so forth and just keep rotating.

What do all you guys do for good deals on ISPs?

I get bent over for our cable... what a bargain eh?

50 bucks for speeds < dialup speeds most times
I've LITERALLY dialed up into my work because the cable modem was so slow *sigh*
be glad you're not in the DC area trying to use cox cable

MSN and AOL are hell on a PC though with all their crap software

There's usually local isp's that work fairly well as well.. check your yellow pages for some. I'm pulling a complete brain fart regarding other dial up ISP's though

vass, have you tried reporting cox to the BBB? I find it hard to believe theres a cable monopoly in your area when you're so close to a metropolis. Is DSL available?

$25/mo for dial-up is highway robbery especially when I'm spending $30/mo for cable, but if I was having the problems Vass reports, I wouldn't give my cable company a plug nickel.

Why not look into whatever dial-up your local phone company is offering? I assume you've checked DSLReports for ratings on your broadband choices.

$17/mo dialup through the local phone company (TDS Telecom). Before I moved to the boonies I had Bellsouth DSL in N.C. for $50. Before that RoadRunner for $50. Dropped RoadRunner because of frequent disconnections. The main cable line into my subdivision wasn't buried. I think I got disconnected whenever the neighbor pulled out of his driveway. Called 3 times to complain and all 3 times they replace MY line and never touched the main line. Other than that fiasco RoadRunner was the best. Great bandwidth.

EarthLink is 21.95/month and unfortunately dialup is the only option for me out here in the sticks. I never have problems with connecting or getting dis-connected.

I'm currently usuing Juno's $9.99 plan. It's unlimited access for only $10! It's fairly fast too! I usually get downloads of 4-5k a sec, and yesterday I had one of those freak things where it started at 7k and went up to 12k a sec, and stayed their for about 1 minute! I really like juno!

Its not really a deal but:
$50 a month for Optimum online 8Mb down 1 Mb up.
The advertised speed is 10 Mb down / 1 up. I DO download at 8 Mb/sec though and the 1 Mb up is constant.
