Check out the terms of the rebate! Go online, get a code, mail in with code on envelope, less than exact instructions but very exact requirements, then check back online in January or February or the rebate is void. Then, when do they actually send the rebate?

Basically, this sounds like a scam rebate that will be almost impossible to collect on, and certainly not until February at the earliest.

Rob, love the deals you're finding but you need to look at rebates like this and simply not deal with companies like this, or at the very least refuse to list offers with insane rebates like this. If you and everyone like you refuse to acknowledge scam rebate offers and don't list the products, the companies will figure out it's a bad business model and clean up their act.

Why would you want to delete the offer?

Even without the rebate it is $359.99. That is still $75.00 less then the current price at NewEgg which is $434.99. That's the lowest price I can find anywhere else.

If you go with the rebate it will be $75.00 less then NewEgg.

Besides, which company do you suggest Rob no longer list;
Buy.com -the merchant
Cavalry -the manufacture
Mir44.com -the rebate processor

It seems that you are suggesting that RR should take up a policy of censorship based on what you would consider a good deal or not.

EDIT:
I apologize but I made a error of $40 in my above post. That error has since been corrected.

OK nomaxim,

yea it's a good deal, but as I stated and you promply ignored, the rebate is about a 99% scam. I resent the living hell out of rebates in general but in particular ones that won't be paid.

Did you go read the terms of the rebate? You have to sign the rebate or it's void! Is there a place to sign? NOOOOOOO So, noone will get the rebate, or almost noone.

6. The rebate will be void if the rebate form was not signed. Filling out and submitting the rebate form confirms that the user has read and agreed to follow the policy on the rebate form and on this webpage.

You do what you want, I don't do business with rip-offs and this is a rip off. Were you going to sign your rebate form? You weren't going to get your rebate then. I'll wait a little for the price to drop at other vendors and then buy.

What Rob should do? At the very least publish that the rebate is tricky and of "questionable reputation".

Is the rebate overly complex? A resounding yes. Is it a so-called "scam?" Doubtful. You read the terms of the rebate, and you figured out the instructions easily enough. All mail-in rebates should involve thoroughly reading the terms, which I encourage all consumers to do.

I am one of the first people to tell consumers how I am not fond of mail-in rebates, but lots of people have little to no problem with them, even when it comes to hopping through multiple nearly confusing steps to get their money back. It largely comes down to how much effort one is willing to put into getting a deal.

First off, please see the correction in my above post. Again, I apologize for that error.

Of course I read the terms of the rebate. I did order the CAND3002T0 from Buy.com after all. I saved $75 off the bat at current prices. The $60 rebate I consider a bonus.

I really don't care for MIR either. In fact, I'll likely screw it up anyway. But, Hey, I knocked $79 off the current price.

Currently at $459.99 plus shipping at Newegg. Disregarding the rebate, it is somewhat surprising Buy.com is even offering this drive for $359.99 shipped.
