The SDR-H40's 42x optical zoom lens has the power you need to take dramatic closeups or get remarkable shots of even distant subjects. But with long-distance zoom shots, even a tiny bit of hand shake has a huge.

I suspect you saw it listed via a third-party Amazon.com Marketplace merchant.

Anyway, now it is again listed at $249.99 shipped. Welcome to the world of Amazon.com price/stock fluctuations.

What I saw at the bottom of the linked page was Amazon, not Marketplace, but I did see the $244.99 later in the day.
