don't buy magnavox/philips!!!
Just for your fyi...
December 2005 I bought a $1200.00 magnavox lcd flat screen. It lasted less than 18 months. Philips (magnavox's owner) was worthless. I told them up front this was out of warranty and just wanted to see if they would help me. got tons of letters from their no-customer service department telling me it was out of warranty...duh!. I told them i didn't want warranty service, just some help in replacing it. i had offered to pay up to $400.00 for a reconditioned unit but they kept telling me the best they could do was just over $700.00 (similar units were less than that all over the place).
I never got past the brain-dead first level CS. I asked repeatedly to talk to a supervisor but this "Robin Balemans CS rep never let me. I even asked for the address of the head of the division, again...nothing.
I will NEVER buy ANY philips product again...be it lightbulbs, electric razors, or electronics. Their customer support is about a bottom of the barrel as one can find. If this review helps one person not to purchase a philips product, and save them the same grief i went through, i'll be satisfied...
I was more than willing to meet them half way...i wasn't mean or nasty, but they never made any real effort to even sympathize with me...i'll be happy to send anybody copies of the letters we exchanged...
