Although the sale is over, here's the answer

I've found elsewhere that this camera takes SD flash memory cards. Functionality-wise, it has a lot of bells and whistles as well.

We looked into this deal with great detail, and decided NOT to buy

Caution
note that this model has been noted for poor image quality for a 4MP and high noise level

It has been noted that the lens is not a Pentax ( usual for Casio)
note also that DPREVIEW doesn't even do a test/writeup on this model

(your ultimate source for Dig camera specs/test reports)
http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/specs.asp

BTW, the printer is super ...looking for another combo deal with this printer

Caveat Emptor

First, please show us where "this model has been noted for poor image quality for a 4MP and high noise level". All the reviews I've seen have been very positive. As long as it takes good pictures, I don't care if the lens is a Pentax or not. No one can say only Pentax lenses make good pictures.

Next, of the 15 Casio models listed on that site, only 2 have a full review (a.k.a. a test/writeup). So the rest 13 must all be dubious since the sheer existence of a full review by DPReview is such an absolute proof of quality, right? Mind you, even the 2 reviews are not all positive, with one averaged just below 8.5 and the other in the 7 range. And remember, the DPReview, no matter how authoritative in your mind, is only one person's opinion.

Lastly, please show us who (else) consider DPReview "your ultimate source for Dig camera specs/test reports". Thank you!

sounds like you have a bug up your ass, but i'll respond anyway.

here is a decent review at Steve's:
http://www.steves-digicams.com/2003_...qvr40_pg5.html

can't put my finger on the noise/image quality links, but I did come across them when doing a quick DD.

I found this to be a limitation ( you may not care, that's fine):
"The QV-R40 is simple enough for a beginner to use and although providing no way to manually set aperture or shutter speed, it offers plenty of adjustability to satisfy the creative urges of an intermediate user"

BTW, I got my daugter a Fuji 205 (2MP,3x opt) for about $100 and it works fine ..this Casio one may be a bit better

BTW ..if you are not printing 8x10s, there is little need for more than 2MP (1600x1200 image) ..after that it boilds down to features and size.

If I find the above reference I'll post, but image quality is ALWAYS the prime feature ..everything else you can work around
