Poll: Public’s trust in Bush at low ebb

Barely half -- 52 percent -- now believe Bush is "honest and trustworthy," down 7 percentage points since late October and his worst showing since the question was first asked, in March 1999. At his best, in the summer of 2002, Bush was viewed as honest by 71 percent. The survey found that nearly seven in 10 think Bush "honestly believed" Iraq had weapons of mass destruction. Even so, 54 percent thought Bush exaggerated or lied about prewar intelligence.

Barely half,,, interesting choice of words not a majority, nor more than half.

I do not think he intentionally exaggerated the pre-war intelligence. Too many other intelligence agencies and governments came to the same conclusion independently as well as our former leader Bill Clinton (a vocal bush basher in his first year in office admitted that what bush was saying was what he had seen)

Pollsters and the people they poll are fickle. Remember all the polls that said Dean would run away with the nomination?

Other intelligence agencies? The UK made the claims about Iraq THE SAME DAY as the US... or was that coinsidence?

It was all linked, and whether people like it or not, there was high level doctoring of facts and rumours.

Of course, its all denied, and if anyone is at fault, its other people

I wouldn't trust ANY politician as far as I could kick a football, but some believe that their chosen man is truthful... go figure!

Bush doesn't deserve another term in office, but as to whether any opposition member is a better or more truthful man.. nah!

If the leader of my country lied to me over and over and over again, I probably wouldn't trust him much, either...

Then I guess the difference between you and me is that I can tell when I'm being lied to.

perhaps you can or perhaps the media is lying to you and bush is telling the truth.

Was bush wrong, I think that is not in contention.
