Gay Marriage: Kerry Waffles?

Fox News:
Quote:
And when Kerry opposed federal legislation in 1996 that defined marriage as a union between a man and a woman, he compared the law to 1960s efforts in the South to criminalize interracial marriages and accused his supporters of engaging in the "politics of division."
Gay Marriage

On the news when asked point blank about how he felt about gay marriage, Kerry said he supported ‘legal civil unions,’ but then went on to equivocate and fudge and double speak;
“My position on gay marriage is exactly as that as vice president Cheney’s. If you want to know my position then go ask vice president Cheney.”
Exactly what we want isn’t it? A ‘Real Deal’ politician who tells us exactly how he thinks with fudging and not really saying anything.
The ‘Real Deal’? More like the ‘Real Heel’

Well, that used to pi** me off to no end as well..until I looked at the situation from their perspective.

Any candidate who is running for public office cannot afford to be specific about race, abortion, gay marriage etc. etc. and a host of other similar things that do not apply to his/her office directly. If he or she makes a commitment towards any one, he/she may as well throw in the towel, unless the majority of voters are known to support one or the other.

Thats politics my friend..get used to it.

Don't like it?.. I don't either, but have learned how to read thru the rhetoric and hopefully have discovered where he/she really stands. Other than that...run for a public office yourself, spend $$$$$$$$$$ of donated money for the race..only to make a big boo-boo and cast your lot with a bunch of loosers... After which, you would not get elected dog-catcher.
