Pentagon: 3 Months in Iraq Cost $14B (B as in BILLION!)

WASHINGTON - The ongoing war in Iraq cost about $4 billion in September, spiked to $7 billion in October and hit just under $3 billion in November, the Pentagon said Wednesday in its latest report on how much the military operation costs.
That amounted to roughly $14 billion spent on U.S. military operations in Iraq over the three-month period late last year, the latest figures available, said Dov Zakheim, the Pentagon's chief financial official.

I saw on C-SPAN, Gen. Schoomaker saying it costs $3.9bil per month in Iraq and $900 million in Afghanistan.

1 billion per week---awesome spending---very difficult to imagine, the $28 dollars per meal thing threw me, this is hard to understand---how can we possibly pay for this? ...

I think its actually taxes that pay for it---I hope you are right, I dont feel much safer at this point tho---maybe a few billionX10 more will help---
Im pretty passive about it since I pay no taxes, couldnt actually be happy working daily to pay for this---the money alone to feed each soldier daily exceeds alot of Americans daily work wage that are paying for our "safety"---the price of safety is adding up BIGTIME---of course its needed---I say "tax the rich HEAVILY" but what do I know...

I feel dopey for semi-complaining yet not contributing, I feel for you taxpayers, its gotta be tough...

It's not cheap to sustain the kind of operations in Iraq that the U.S. is maintaining.

Just how much $$$ should we be spending?

$3 Billion a month is nothing to scoff at, but just how should we go about spending less?

I'd like to hear your "expert" opinions since everyone seems to have them....
