I couldn't play it but. the original commercial I was offended by.

Well I kinda agree with that but the particuluar girl ended up with a 2,000 payment to settle the bill so hey... she didnt get away free. Lord knows if they payed her anything... you would think so but hey... It wont take much to get a child to agree to be on TV... look what mike rowe got... an X-Box! I would guess that pepsi just gave each kid in the commercial an Itunes account with a 300 song credit or something. Did you try all the links Epidemic? there were a ton of mirrors... Basic jist of it is they added words to all the original words and turned it back on the RIAA and talked how they are getting all the money and not the band memebers and bla bla bla.

In all the talk of RIAA I have never heard how cash is dealt with in that organization. Does RIAA get payed the lion share of each CD sold. Or does the record label who presses the new releases.

In other words A bands cd goes to press at new star records and it goes to best buy to be sold under RIAA's TM.

How does it all fall together
Band makes music
producer gets new star to advertise and press the CD.
RIAA (somewhere in there)
A warehouse buys a stock of them
Best buy orders from a warehouse

How much generally goes to each leg of the journey to the consumer.

RIAA is an association typically that is just a group of people that serve as one common voice for many players. typically I see an association as a group which acts as a common front in legal actions as well as standardization.

From what I have been told by others its just a group of record lables. Kinda like the NRA for gun people. They speak on behalf of all their members type of thing and I think they make their main money of memberships and sueing people. But thats just an educated guess.
