Counterfeiting cars in China

General Motors began selling its $7,500 Chevrolet Spark in China in December, a $6,000 knockoff version, the Chery QQ, with the same grinning front end but missing some subtle details (like an airbag), was cruising Chinese streets. Even more galling: The manufacturer of the pirated version was partially owned by GM's Chinese business partner.

I wonder if walmart will be selling these soon.

Yeah I've seen those two side by side on the net somewhere. Externally, looks almost exactly the same. China's counterfeiting problem is pretty bad.

Years ago, like more than 10, a Chysler executive was looking at a Jeep in a Chinese showroom. He sensed there was something different about it. On closer examination, he determined it was a counterfeit!

Sort of why NAFTA burns a lot of people...especially here in the south where the textile and furniture making businesses have been wiped out and decimated...(thanks Bill)...hard to see why any sort of help or benefit or anything like that is extended to China at ALL.

China is a large market. In case you haven't noticed, China now has a larger middle class than the US. It has about 300 million. But it also has a lot of poor, like 1 billion.

They also can field a 200 million man army, lol....which might come into play if Tiawan tries to declare independence and autonomy..which Tiawans pres said they would have a referendum on this year....China has said they will invade without hesitation if Tiawan tries to break away....America is evidently sworn to protect Tiawan since she is democratic......its like a powder keg.

I just dont see why we had/have to do so much stuff that weakens our country....oh well.

"China is a large market." <-----which cola company is it that has invested huge in china?? Coke or pepsi?? Whichever one has said they still havent turned a profit over there, lol.
