i have an auction currently up where the winner recieves no tangible object, but the satisfaction of bettering a person's future and the future economy...

You should send them something tangible. Send a thank you card, and put them on a mailing list. Every quarter, put it out with your grades and tell how you are getting along. That will allow people to see how their money is producing.
