I was kidding about the "rear with the gear". It was like sour grapes for those of us in the field. Actually I have much respect for teh USAF pilots and ground crews that probaby saved my live- especially the B52 and A10 guys.

You are quite welcome. I worked with forward air controlers and we prided ourselves on saving our Army brethern. I know what you mean withe the AF being in the rear with the gear. Once you lay down a runway, it does not tend to move easily, so we have a more "homesteading" point of view. FACs on the other hand are intertwined with their Army brethern.
