Need a Kitten....

Ok... I want to get a kitten for my girlfriend for VD.

She likes Birman and Persian...

I went around looking, but they are hard to find.

I'm on the east coast (DE)

Anybody have any idea where I could find them?

also, somebody told me not to get it from a pet store...

are they so bad?


any help appreciated..

I know there are a lot of people here with CATS@! help me out please

go to the local cat "pound" (animal shelter) or whatever they call it....rescue some poor kitty from being put to sleep

Be careful with purebreds, they can be expensive and have genetic problems. I'm with John, check the local animal welfare places for an unwanted kitty that you can give a good home to. With a young kitten one of you will have to be in to look after it, it's unfair if you're both out working.

If she likes longhairs, Himalayans are nice too...

(Our own cats, Sylvie and Bruna, are mutts; but they're beautiful, all-black shorthairs and we love them.)

I like JP's idea rather then spending over $500 for a kitten...

Do try a rescue. CE and I have recieved many of our cats that way, and the love retured is incredable!

Are you 100% certain she wants a cat? 99% is not good enough. Pets are a horrible idea for gifts. Unless she actually asked you for one, I'd think of something else.
