Cyanide Salt Block Found in Iraq
Foxnews
A 7-pound block of cyanide salt (search) was discovered by U.S. troops in Baghdad at the end of January, officials confirmed to Fox News.
The potentially lethal compound was located in what was believed to be the safe house of Abu Musab Zarqawi (search), a poisons specialist described by some U.S. intelligence officials as having been a key link between deposed Iraqi leader Saddam Hussein and the Al Qaeda (search) terror network.

This is a mistake, they were trying to make a salt block to feed the cattle.

I do not know CM, finding a block in a residence does change perhaps where you should look for WMD's
Many things justify the war.
Including saddams failure to comply with the unfettered access and with the describe what happened to your WMD programs and wares.
Blame for this war can be squarely put on saddams plate. The war had 16 chances to be avoided No make the 17. The 17th being that he could leave power with his sons and leave the country. he chose unwisely.

Whatever Epidemic,
Go tell that to someone who watched FOX or CNN all day, they might believe that propaganda aimed at Americans.

OK, I bite. What are they suggesting this cyanide salt was to be used for? Gas chambers or extracting gold from ore? there isn't a whole lot else you can do with it.
Sec'y Powell already said that there was no link between al Qaeda and Heissen.
If one considers cyanide salt WMD, then there are WMD in all countries. These types of chemicals are widely used for commerical applications. Chemicals in my garage will be considered WMD under that definition.

So CM you are saying that there were not 16 resolutions with the last one demanding compliance?
Who is the one believing propaganda here?
I know I read a resolution which said that saddam must provide information regarding his former and current WMD programs. the document did not even meet Blix's requirements. Saddam also did on several occasions leading up to the war hinder the inspection teams ( failing the unfeddered access clause).
He also failed to leave the country when war was imminent and the offer was made for himself, his sons, and some key government officials to evacuate.
I do not view these items as even subject for debate. They are way beyond the possibility of propaganda.
This is not CNN or Fox created evidence.
MTA I have to hand it to you though alot of what you say cold be true. It also could be a Weapon, I know iraqi's are wierd but I see little reason for having a block of cyanide salts in the garrage.
Could be an innocent chemistry experiment gone ary or could be something more sinister. All in all this does not prove WMD's but it is definitely strange.

Sodium cyanide is a widely used chemical intermediate for dyes, drugs, photographical chemicals, antiscaling chemicals and a thousand other uses, besides its well-known uses in gold plating and extraction. It's absurdly easy to come by.
I'm sure this guy had nefarious intentions in possessing a block of it, probably for murdering prisoners. But it sure wasn't hard for him to get it; there are hundreds of commercial sources. Not like anthrax or botulinum toxin or plutonium.
