Super Bowl Stunt To Cost Big Time

AOL is demanding some of its $10 million dollars back for the stunt Jackson/Timberlake pulled at the Super Bowl. Janet Jackson has admitted it was a pre arranged stunt.

CBS may sue the pair for loss of revenue if the network has to payback AOL. MTV will also probably sue the pair for loss of future earnings if they lose the Super Bowl contract. Oh yeah, lawyers are going to have a field day.

What just makes me want to puke is... they (JJ & Timberlake) did this to see how much they could get away with...and lost. The TV viewing public is not quite ready for full blown sex on prime time TV..open to just anybody with or without a ha** on.

The Jacksons are driving themselves into some kinda sexual fantasy land. JJ and Michael are the driving force for this misguided sex oriented family. Nothing they say, do or show-off surprises me anymore...all of them live for sex, and thats it.

Maybe a porn website will be the one place for them to find to exhibit what they have to display.

And then there is Jesse!

On what basis are they entitled to money back? Their ads ran. People saw them. My understanding is that most of the viewers didn't know about it until after the game was over.

They sponsored the superbowl halftime show for 10 million $$ and had planned on replaying over their AOL service for their members.

Given the nature of the show they decided to pull the replays.

For $10 million, AOL had purchased certain residual rights to the half time show. Those rights are now worthless. At least that's what AOL's lawyers will argue.

I wouldn't be surprised if it eventually cost Jackson and Timberlake $25 million out of pocket. How much would you sue them for if you lost the Super Bowl contract?

That's a bit of a stretch. A two-second edit makes that scene disappear. AOL has an obligation to mitigate damages.
