Anyone catching Nerd Nation on Tech TV?

Pretty interesting, about the call centers going into India.

What do you think about that? I think it's great for India from what I see, and no real problem for the US, in fact it will be a plus for the US and other nations. This year they will contribute 17MM USD to the Indian economy.

Like any good American I have to ask, what about me? I have a lot of friends that work in call centers. What about them? I don't see how this is a "plus" for the US at all. By US I mean the people of the US not the corporations.

Floored, i'm not too sure how it is in America, but in England there will always be jobs for the time being. Over 90% of the people in my country do not have a job, because they are lazy, not because they can't get one, hell, even if you don't have any grades you can still get a job flipping burgers at McDonalds, then go to night school and learn your A+, then get a job as a Techie, it's simple.

I'm 17, I have a full-time job, I work hard, I'm getting a good qualification from it, and I have seen people twice my age not working at all... It's easy to get a job, at least in England. There are vacancies everywhere, it's just that a lot of people are very, very lazy.

In the long run I think it's good for everyone. One more country that learns to develop their economy is a plus. Generating revenue that turns to spendable revenue looking for American culture positive.

I don't want to work in a call center. There are zillions of other minimum wage, crappy working condition jobs I'd rather work at.

They interviewed a professor and she said we are exploiting the Indian youth... sigh... (what is it about educators? )
An excellent income (in that country) a chance to understand other cultures and be able to pick positive influences they could later apply to their own businesses... exploitation..

I thought it was interesting that India business has no concept of customer service. Just learning a proven way to do business will be a real boon to the young entrepreneurs.

OP, you sound a lot like I did when I was your age.
