The FCC is going to investigate the Jackson/Timberlake fiasco from last night's halftime show. While I agree it was crass and tasteless, it DOES NOT warrant a federal investigation.

"Like millions of Americans, my family and I gathered around the television for a celebration," FCC Chairman Michael Powell said in a statement. "Instead, that celebration was tainted by a classless, crass and deplorable stunt. Our nation's children, parents and citizens deserve better."

What's deplorable is the waste of taxpayer money on what will be a fruitless investigation. Again the result of an idiot in a high place.

It was not all that visible, and many just sat and questioned what they had seen... it is the publicity that has caused the main problem!

Besides, her nipple was covered up - we see more than that on a lot of shows (try some of Pink's music videos as a quick-to-mind example)

If I got my shorts in a twist every time the government wasted money, I'd be a basket case. Excuse me while I get back to work to pay my taxes. Only five more months and I get to keep the money I earn.

Not sure how the FCC are wasting federal dollars when all they are doing is their job. It's their job to keep crap like that off of LIVE TV.

The FCC is the police of TV and radio waves (among other transmission media), and it's their job to enforce any violation of the rules.

That's like saying the Police Dept. shouldn't investigate a homicide because it's a waste of taxpayer dollars...

Seems to me it is Jackson, Timberlake, MTV that is wasting taxpayer dollars...not the FCC.

If I gave my (very strong) opinion about these morons, I would be locked up for years. I have made a list of my opinions about the FCC and this fiasco:

1. FCC is a clear channel puppet

2. Justin Timberlake is a pervert

3. So is Michael Powell (I will personally watch this again. and again... and again (sound of zipper goin' down) and again. we need to take action. this is sweet, err creamy, err filthy for our nation... err? where was I?

4. If they are the "police" of the media, why do the following companies run rampant, and strangle the public airwaves with a bias opinion, and do not allow community radio stations to flourish? Clear Channel,CBS,Infinity,Fox,NBC,ABC, need I go on?

5. The words "enforce" "violation" "talent" "illegal" "monopoly" have been replaced with one word: payoff



no way they keep a hand on what goes on. Clear Channel would not be running amuck in las vegas, or in texas, hiring "talent" (if that is what it is called) to throw chickens off of freeway overpasses, or shoot hamsters out of cannons.
