War in Iraq: Not a Humanitarian Intervention

Human Rights Watch, which neither supported nor opposed the invasion, has an interesting analysis of the "humanitarian intervention" argument now being proposed as a rationale for the US action. In a nutshell: it's humanitarian if you intervene to stop an ongoing or impending genocide; it's not if you come in afterwards to punish one.
