Supermarkets to be Sued by California

The lawsuit being brought against 3 different supermarkets allege they agreed to share revenue and costs incured to enable them to break the strike by workers.

Quote

"This action is about protecting shoppers against unlawful, anti-competitive conduct that keeps prices artificially high,'' Attorney General Bill Lockyer said in a statement Friday. ``The grocers' agreement to share costs and revenue hurts consumers by discouraging competitive pricing. The antitrust law exists to prevent that, and I intend to enforce the law."

I am curious, IF "Albertsons... lost $132 million in sales AND "Kroger announced third-quarter earnings fell 57 percent" just how much were they expecting to lose by paying their employees a decent wage??

"Kroger announced last month that its third-quarter earnings fell 57 percent as many Southern California consumers started shopping elsewhere."

Couldn't happen to a nicer #$^king group of guys. I may be prejudiced, but I've always hated Kroger. They were a good store til they started the "Card" thing. All they did was raise their prices and give back about 50% with the card while collecting all your data. Screw Kroger and the horse they rode in on !!!!!!!

Screw 'em all. I haven't stepped foot in my local Von's in almost four months now, and I don't miss it. Trader Joe's, Whole Foods, and Peoples' Food, a local co-op, have filled our needs just fine (although there's a good reason Whole Foods is also known as Whole Paycheck Market).

Isnt there a new wrinkle there.,.....that walmart is opening over 100 new stores in these affected areas?? (hence making these striking grocery stores of MUCH less importance)
