Democracy: next stop IRAN!?!?
Many people think that the war with Iraq was about oil.
I've said all along that GWB (and cabinet's) true motives were more to rewrite the political map of the Middle East. With the emphasis so focused on Iraq, few people seem to be paying attention to the biggest potential powder keg of the region: Iran. The fate the Islamic world for the next hundred years maybe riding on the winds of change of what happens next in Iran. HERE! |

WTF?!? Afghanistan and Iraq are a mess right now, and you want to go and attack Iran as well?
If Bush convinced the country (again) that we need to go to war, it'd be some right-winged feces, alright.

To Clubmed:
Yes there is a little exercise of raw power, isn't there?
Mike,
Where did you fish those ridiculous assumptions from? Where did I insinuate America was going to attack Iran? Iran is quite capable of exploding itself. I think Iran will be the next democracy because it's people will throw out the hard line fundamentalists who control too much over people’s lives.

Wally, why have we ever given a damn about what is going on in the mideast?
Why do we need to rewrite the political maps? Because of terrorism. Why are there terrorists? Because they hate America. Why do they hate America? Because we went over there and f'ed around with things. Why did we get involved with what was going on over there? OIL! |

Yes Gomer,
Oil does play a part in our strategy. But if we look back just a few short years ago, our dependence on foreign oil increased most markedly during whose tenure in office? Bill C. of course. His (do nothing unpopular) administration could have told Detroit to stop pushing the gas guzzling behemoths that were responsible for the marked increase. But did Mr. Environment do anything to support the latter, by telling Detroit to produce more fuel efficient SUV's? No. |

Creatures,
If any nation stands in the path of those that seek absolute power it will come to war, whether the UN likes it or not.
One cannot maintain the upper hand while obstacle nations become wealthier and more of a competition.
It's sad but true, this has nothing to do with democracy of freedom, it's about power, religion and on a secondary but equally important level resources.

The reformers will be successful in Iran, no need to invade.
