Well anything is a guess with a newer car. I would try flashing the BIOS,and adding some more ram

Really try to FLASH THE CODES,see if that gives you any insight.Could be any number of things, but that is a good place to start.

I have recently aquired a 1991 Firebird w/ the 3.1 six and had a missing and dieing problem. Gave it a full tune up ( used Bosch split fire plugs ) new rotor and cap ,air and fuel fliter. Had to put in a new battery and now it runs great. Changed the oil, trans and rear end . Almost like new. Don't forget the air freshener

Thanks a lot brainchild - I was just about ready to suggest that.

Also, a surefire way to fix it would be to buy a new car. Or just buy a Mongoose.

thanks for the input. Ive been thinking vaccuum, but i can't find any leaks off hand. it doesn't do it every time you brake so maybe it is a voltage problem. i guess my next step will be to check for codes.

Fuel injected engines have An Idle speed control, and an Idle Air Control listed.

In the old days, it was called a "dashpot", which regulated the rpm drop when you took your foot off the gas, so it wouldn't die completely.

try googling. found this
