Outdoors Ordering Stuff from the States

Why is it so freaking hard to order stuff from the States (USA)? I thought that we had free trade with you.... Apparently not!

I found a good deal on the Xbox live kit on resellerratings through Walmart.

I put in the address (where Mom and Dad are staying down in Mesa) and put in all my info for the billing address and they won't accept a Canadian billing address. I don't want to pay the CND price of 80-90 dollars I want to pay the 40US and bill it to my credit card.

Oh side note. Why do we (Canadians) have to pay double of what you guys in the States do?

Why do you get all the good deals and we get the shaft? This has been bugging me for a long time.

Gaaa stupid American (US) company's. You suck big time!

Well I'm finished with my rant

Your beef is with the merchant that makes that decision. Obviously, they get a lot of credit card fraud from foreign credit cards. Call them.

You pay double the numbers but it is the same value. That is the exchange rate. One US dollar is worth 2 Canadian dollars. There are 100 yen to the dollar. It doesn't mean the Japanese pay 100X what we pay.

The exchange rate is usually what the difference is. Make sure you are dealing with a company that offers the current exchange rate. Lots of online companies try to make a little extra cash by not offering the the proper exchange rate.

Example.
Currently the exchange rate is at $0.76 Canadian. They might offer you something like $0.50 Canadian.

Another reason is that we have higher wages for the most part. (Technical fields seem to get higher wages in the States.)

When dealing with a states side company, you have to calculate the exchange rate, shipping, origin taxation, Canadian PST & GST, border duty taxes, product base price.

With this total in mind, find a Canadian distributor with the same product. Find an out of province distributor so you don't get hit with the PST. Calculate shipping, GST, product base price.

If the price is within a couple of dollars, go Canadian. If the States side total price is by far the better, go with the States side distributor.

Cheers!

That's funny MTAtech and BTW the US dollar (or should I say "dallar") is NOT worth 2X as a Canadian dollar look at the exchange page www.xe.com. And this comming from an American I'm not surprised. Pfff

Thanks for your kindness there bones. Makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside...

Beemer is right though. It happens here in America too...only as shippng charges and some 'Price Cuts' that really aren't price cuts.

It's always, always a good idea to check your own country for deals before ordering internationally. Many hidden charges can crop up unless you go to the country with the deals and physically wank into the store and purchase the item. I know many stores in Maine sell items in both currencies, and I bet stores across the other border states will do the same.

Hey Red why would I check here, everything we buy is almost twice what you pay. Now take the exchange rate into perspective and we are getting up the *anyway*.

And and I called the 800 number for Walmart and guess what I got.. Go ahead guess.... One more time keep going..... A rude message that we don't accept Canadian orders. Stupid US companies... You know there is actually other people outside your borders and the world does not revolve around you.

You guys suck

Appoligy Accepted Bones. Thanks for your understanding

http://www.gamestop.com/product.asp?product%5Fid=801736

That's w/$14 Internatioal economy shipping. The base price is $5 more than what Walmart asks for, but it's still better than the $90 some places ask for (*cough* amazon *cough*)
