heres a pic of a snow gauge. its like a sign along the road in the kewenaw peninsula in the U.P.

i remember the winter of 78-79 when the 390 inches fell. wasnt a nice winter.

My older brother used to live in Marquette. He wasn' t there for the 390" but used to say that the average was 14' to 15'.
<-- shudders at the thought of people here in PA trying to drive in that.

2003-2004 Snowfall To Date January 22, 2004 = 148.4"- On the ground 35"
Total last year on this date = 137.5"

total snowfall includes all snow from first snow of last year, sometime in i d guess october to present. the snow has melted down to nothing a few times.

we re in for a few more blasts of 12 inches overnite,i m sure. and then there is the famous "St Pattys Day Storm" we get every few years.

up here, after the first of may,you can almost count on it not snowing significantly till the end of october.

I'm jealous. We're in the midst of one of the worst droughts in 100 years, and y'all have that much snow, just doesn't seem right.

If it doesn't pick up in the next year or so, I'll probably be looking for a job somewhere else...
