So who's gone to the birds? Feeding them.

I have. I've even started making my own suet cakes.
Birds are pretty cool. Anyone else here into them?

Did you know they just passed a law here allowing people to hunt Doves?

I like em BTW... when I get my new digital and make a trip home, I'll take a pic of the feeder I made my grandparents.

I always make sure we put out plenty of food for the winter... but being a town house we don't get too much variety...

My grandparents house on the other hand has a fantastic variety of birdlife!

My dad is obsessed with birds... There were always birdfeeders around when I lived at home.

I was feeding them in my moms backyard for a while several years ago....I went and checked out a book so I could ID em all....I think she had 15 species that I saw.

Though I cant recall em all....I loved watching em with binocs. I has several different feeding things going...set up strategically in her backyard which is along the woods and a creek...almost a natural bird sanctuary

2 types of wrens
2 or 3 woodpeckers
blujays
cardinals
robins
chickadee
titmouse
crow, lol

wow, I forgot 5 of them

I fed Hummingbirds for awhile then learned I was busting up their migration plan and quit---they go to Mexico for winter food when the flowernectar isnt available to them here---I was makin em lazy but not following up all year long to keep em goin...

I think if you choose to attract and feed wild birds you need to be consistant year round...

My mom feeds birds. We live in NJ, so the only types of seed we need and get are sun flower and thistle (for goldfinches). We also feed them suet.

The largest problem we have is that there's about 15,000,000 gray squirrels for every bird, so we either have to chase them off every 5 minutes or let them be. We did get a feeder they couldn't figure out finally, but we still use the old feeder, which they utilize.
