The Elegant Universe

I found it to be most interesting and enjoyable to watch. Basically they try to tell us (the layman) all about String Theory. And that ain't no easy task.

Definitely recommended viewing. In fact you can watch all three programs of it (each an hour long) online if you want. Go here.

Or if you have a slow connection just look for show times on your local PBS station.

"The origin of the universe has always been a mysterious event in which the laws of physics appear to break down. Could it be that the Big Bang was caused by the collision of two parallel universes?"

hmmmm, explaining things scientifically by starting at a point that science doesnt understand.....almost sounds like something a used car salesman would try.

Im into string theory though....my theory on strings is "I change them every few years whether I need to or not" (guitar)

And John P, don't worry they talk plenty about General Relativity, which has been proven, as well as Quantum Mechanics, that also holds up to scientific proof. I will admit they don't cover the theory of some being waving it's magic hand and everything in the known universe just "poof'ing" into existence. hmmm, I can't imagine why they'd skip that one. lol.

lol. Eventually only one spin can turn out to be true. When we are all conditioned to believe a "spin", I guess then that the truth itself sounds more like a spin than anything.

To me it's just like kids trying to grow up....their father lets them "see" things little by little....first he has to get their toys out for them and put them up afterward....then he lets them get their own toys...then a tricycle..then a bicycle--but only with training wheels..then, gasp, a moped (lol, whatever they call em now)...then, egads, their first car. (They go brag to their friends that they can ride a bike...so what if they just "rode" it for the first time, with training wheels, and with daddy walking alongside.)

Now, he doesnt give em the car at age 12 because he knows they just arent ready to handle it.

But, suppose the kids were rebellious...suppose they thought they knew more than their father....suppose they thought he was old and stodgy and just "slowing them down"...so they decide to disregard him and do stuff their own way. So they start sneaking around doing things without acknowledging their father or his guidance. Obviously they will eventually come to ruin like that. Like a 12 year old who took the keys out of his fathers coat pocket and went for a drive (after sampling his mothers cooking sherry, lol). It will end up in a big mess, lol.

Hows that for a spin??

Of course, these "kids" I am referring to are raising themselves up above their Father..meanwhile claiming that He doesnt exist (Einstein never said it though)...even their own work is sort of based upon doubt that He 'created' anything...obviously if God doesnt exist, then he also didnt create anything, lol. They are making their living discovering their Fathers work, which all along they deny...sort of ironic. In their 'wisdom' they have become fools...using a microscope to study the bark yet denying the tree exists.

Let the kids play...God shows em a little more wisdom when He chooses...though they only estrange themselves from Him more and more by celebrating themselves for their "discoveries"...like little kids who are so proud they found the Easter eggs...when their father hid them in obvious places, lol.

Frankly I am a little more worried about the "kids" playing with cloning and DNA mapping blah blah.

JP (the spin doctor, lol)
