Drugs
I was talking to a guy the other day, and drugs got brought up. he claimed that Jesus smoked marijuana (he brought that up cuz he knew I'm a Christian). he also claims that studies saying that marijuana is bad for you is false, but the news media is brainwashing us to believe its bad. Also, the drug helps you get in touch with your creative side more (he paints when he's high). I asked him if he could just up and quit whenever he wanted. heck ya! he says. Then do it I says, prove it to me. Technically, i hear that marijuana is not physcally addictive, only physcilogically. but I also know that it acts as a immunosupressent, with a power equal to drugs given to transplant patients. Also, he has no good reason to do it other than "the high". However, he would prefer to see marijuana legalized nationally. I really pity the dude. He has thrown caution to the wind, doesnt care about facts, statistics, or any of that. Only his facts count.
So whats your opinion on drugs and legalization?

I don't know what studies he's talking about, but he's obviously concluded this a priori based on a desire to justify his position.
Keep in mind, the guy's real problem has nothing to do with marijuana.

I will just say I am not the most read person on this subject, but my brother is one of those guys you talked about. Always saying how its not a bad drug and how those studies are wrong (obviously he uses it frquently). I personally know thats bullcrap, buecause I have seen my brother spiral from a pretty decent kid to a total ass in about 4 years. Guess when the spiral started??? Hmmmm you guessed it, in highschool when he started using mariauna. Coinicidence? I doubt it.

The ideas that Jesus took drugs and that drugs are not harmful are equally preposterous. You have to learn when to just ignore.

Did you know jesus personally. How do you know then. He was a poor dirty carpenter wasnt he. So who knows or cares. Other then overly defensive christians. (not all just the fanatics and all religious groups have fanatics). Alchohal is just as bad as MJ buts its legal. So ask yourself about that. Ive seen alot of familys broke up over alchohalics. Its legal. Again why? Not saying MJ should be but then why is Alchohal? Cause its easy to get away with making and the gov. figured might aswell profit ourselves. THat and moonshine made the mophia powerfully rich. Its all Political BS from alch. to MJ. Gonna make one illegal make the other too I say. Then we will see how many cry a diff tune alltogether. Oh how the bar hoppers would cry and cry in their empty beer mugs.

as i posted in differnt drug threads before, i dont really care, if it's legalized, who cares? if they take them, it's their fault, if they have unprotected sex and get AIDS it's their fault
and the most important one: if they want drugs they can get it legal or illegal
jesus took drugs? lol that explains the walking on water thing...
this smoke which they use in the church has got drug like materiels in it! AFAIK

| Bzzzzt!!
Not necessarily. Archaeological evidence suggests that marijuana extracts were a common ingredient in anointing and cleansing oils of the period, for its relaxing and painkilling properties.
It is, I agree, highly unlikely that it would have been smoked, but there is reasonable cause to believe that exposure to marijuana and its effects was probable amongst people of Jesus' time.
Certainly enough to fear the random drug testing the Pharisees used on heretics, messiahs, and associated hangers-on |
