Even conservatives are critical of Bush spending

"The president used the State of the Union to defend past spending increases, and he made eight specific calls for new spending increases," said Brian M. Riedl, a budget analyst at the Heritage Foundation [a conservative think tank]. "But he made zero calls for spending cuts. He merely said focus on priorities, cut wasteful spending and be wise with the people's money. That's not specific enough."

Mr. Bush had long attributed the sharp swing from budget surpluses to deficits to the recession and the war on terror. Now, he faces political pressure not just from small-government conservatives in Congress and Democrats who say his tax cuts have plunged the government into a sea of red ink, but also from voters.

The money that has already been apropiated has evaporated.

The U.S. Conference of Mayors survey found that 76 percent of the 215 cities responding had not received their share of $1.5 billion Congress earmarked in fiscal 2003 to boost security for critical infrastructure and improve the readiness of police, firefighters and other emergency response teams.

I do not like his spending.

The war I feel is a just and good cause.

Medicare sounds to be an insane amount of money.

Prescription drugs likewise outrageously priced.

although I think marriage should be supported. I do not think you can legislate programs which will keep an abusive husband from beating his wife. Or make an insane spend thrift wife more cost conscious.

Agreed it only profits the insurance companies.

Prescription drugs likewise outrageously priced.

Agreed as above example my $6.95 per month R/x will cost me $62.97 through the government program and I can't buy a generic or Canadian cheaper drug.

It is clear that the Republican rhetoric that the Democrats are big spenders and the Republicans are conservative with the people's money has been discredited with this Republican Administration and this Republican Congress.

The Republicans have shown that the Democrats are armatures when it comes to pork-barrel politics. Their programs can be called ‘leave no campaign contributor behind.’

I would debate who is making whom look amateurish, but not with your basic premise.

Off-topic, despite the ranting, drug costs only account for about one sixth of the rise in health care costs.

I, likewise do not approve of GWB's fiscal overspending, he does need to put a lid on it; or create so many new jobs that the income of the fed grows considerably.
BTW, Clinton's good numbers were all on paper. They never were a reality, only a possibility that the democrats smoke and mirrored to look like some great (nonexistent) achievement.

As for health care, a large part of the increase is because of the price doctors must pay for malpractice insurance, which has gone up in price exorbitantly. (Also, many MD’s are leaving or retiring because of this same issue.)
Why? Because of frivolous law suites brought on by no caps to jury awards. Likewise, brought to you by the trial lawyers, partial owners of the DNC.

Off-topic, malpractice insurance contributes less than 2% of rising health-care costs are attributable to malpractice insurance rate increases. And the majority of rate increases are due to the poor performance of the stock market, driving insurance profits down.
