When doing a bibliography...

WAY off topic here, but when you do a bibliography (for an internet source), do you list the main page or the exact page you found it at (eg. www.microsoft.com or www.microsoft.com/windows/main.asp (I dont know if the 2nd is a real website, i just made it up))

Thanks

Umm, I just did this so I SHOULD know.....The bibliography has to be the exact page url, but if youre citing it in the paper, just list the main page.

According to my wife the reference librarian and author of bibliography reference books, you list the exact page. The reason being is that bibliographies should allow a reader to go to the exact source.

EDIT: TRB is probably right about citing it within the text of the paper, though.

Yup. Exact source, else you'll get nailed for plaigarism. You would use the corporation's name as the author. I'll give you an example for the following page: http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=325379

325379 - How to Upgrade Windows 2000 Domain Controllers to Windows Server 2003. July 30 2003. Microsoft. January 22 2004 <http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=325379>.

Edit:
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Use the following outline for a referenced url in a bibliography.

Article Title - appears in the very top bar of your browser. [Date File Was Created -- using format (Number Month Year - no commas in between numbers and month)]. Company/Author/Organization. [Date File Was Accessed - using similar date format used for File Creation Date]. <Complete URL to exact page>.
