My best excuse for being late for work

- SO yesterday morning, I'm on my way to work - my whole 1.5 mile commute. I leave like 10min before I have to be there (was running late...) I get to the stoplite... all of a sudden a cop pulls into the intersection and stops traffic.

I sit, and sit, and sit.. now everything is backed up as far as I can see. Finally I get out of my car and ask the trucker next to me whats going on.. 'oh, the President is coming back from Conshohocken' - oh.. ok - sure enough, suddenly I see a helicopter circling, then the motorcycle guys, the big black suburbans with the black windows - and then yep, George W. wizzed by.

Evidently he was flying out of the local Naval Air Station (Willow Grove NAS).

It was kinda cool , minus the 20min when I didn't know what was going on... lol

Maybe he thought he hadn't made it hard enough for you thaqt day and needed to take it that little bit further. I know the Pollitions here go out of their way to piss us off.

George's dad cruised thru here some years back, right at evening rush hour. Closed a 15 mile stretch of I-75 all the way through Dayton between the airport and wherever he was going. Totally fubar'ed the whole town. I was on my way from work to pick up my son at his after school daycare. They were gonna hit me with a late fee until they realized that EVERYBODY was gonna be way late. Wodda mess.

At my school even if they saw it on the news I would still be marked tardy.

Here's one:
Four high school students go drinking over the weekend and come back late sunday nite. They have an exam monday morning, which they can go to but decide to sleep and reach the school after the exam is over, They go to the professor and tell him that they went for camping over the weekend and on the way back they had a flat tire and couldn't make it for the exam. Could they take a make up? Sure, says the professor. Tomorrow morning at 9am. So they go back, study and come at 9am prepared for the History Exam. They are taken to separate classrooms and given the paper:

Q1. Who was George Washington? - 5 marks
Q2. Which tire had the flat? -95 marks

I am always late for school, It rocks. My school work on the system of if you dont disturb others learning then do what you want within limits. So i am late for most leasons by about 5 or ten minutes and i ahvn't been to homeroom since grade nine.

I'm never late (mum works at a primary school down the road and gets me into school about 8:30 when school starts at 9:00, we live 8 miles from school so i need a lift)
but if i was late from something like that theyd say "you should have taken all possibilities events into consideration"

I'm currently in University, so I can be late if I want. The profs don't usually do much, considering that it's my money that I'm wasting.

Other people in the class don't really like late-comers though.
