am i illegal?

I am downloading songs from allofmp3.com then burning them, then deleting them from my hard disk and selling the cd to people for a $1. (basically friends..)

im not selling the songs, but covering the cost of the cd / burning / isp service.

is this illegal though? im deleting the copies from my computer, and am downloading a copy for each cd i burn

You are making money from some one else's work. First you would need to notify the band's manager/record label/ or just the band if neither of those apply. Once this is done, [if] they will agree to you distributing the music, you will have to abide by their terms. I do this a lot actually, I'll make sample CD's for bands/local bands and give them away for FREE. Many reasons why, use your imagination.

Heh... I forgot the part where I say 'yes'.

Doesn't matter f00, you are STILL SELLING the CD's... This is worse then P2P file sharing in the eys of the RIAA.

Or what you could do is "forget" your CD over at their place and have them "forget" where they left their dollar.

You're not selling them something you are misplacing it hint hint.

Read my replies concerning this exact topic in the Allofmp3 thread.

http://www.techimo.com/forum/t79080.html

This is illegal not only according to Allofmp3, but it is illegal according to US copyright laws. You are transfering the material across distribution mediums with money being exchanged.

The funny part is when the police show up, take you for a ride and "forget" where you live too lol =)
