I found my new sport!

Its perfect for me. Darts!

No practice, and 15 beers before the matches!

http://www.reuters.co.uk/newsPackage...&section=news?!

I used to play in a league, and I have thrown a couple hat tricks (three bulls in one turn.) Guess I need to go to the bar and start practicing

G'day nunya.

I played Darts for years competitively.

Great sport. Not as easy as it looks at higher levels.
You need good nerves.

Australia has a very healthy Darting infrastructure.
The 2002 World Darts champion was a lad from Townsville. NQ.

Bulls are not the best place to score. The treble twenty is.
Three in the treble twenty leads to the cry of: One Hundred and Eighty!
Which you maybe familiar with.

The best skill is not just knocking down big scores on every throw.
Although that is important.
But rather being able to 'pegout'
That is, to knock your score down to a double.
You can hit.

To think on your feet, do the math, hit the trebles, singles etc.
Then nail the double.
Seperates the good from the very good.

Rusty.

Basically what RustyGT said. Learn your outs, and leave your partner sitting pretty.

If you learn the math, you won't be concentrating on it when it comes time to get into the zone. 3 darts thrown in rhythm

The drinking part? In his book, Tony Brown, World Champion 1984 is quoted as saying, Alcohol. A necessary part of the game, in moderation. Always will be, always should be. (or something like that.)

Pup League, Legion League, Meat Shoots, Tournaments on the weekends, shooting darts at the local bar with your buddies. 5 nights a week at a cost average of $50.00 CA per night.

Great Time!

Buy some type of hammer head darts. More points on the board then on the floor. I have the Dennis Priestly version. $150.00 . Dart supply stores usually have second hand darts for sale. This reduces the cost about half for the hammer heads.

Cheers!

I love playing darts as well. I'm decent, but never played in a league. I have hit 2 bulls in 3 darts, but never a hat trick. That's pretty tough.

Lots of the guys in the Air Force played when I was in Greece...played on the local greek team....they even managed to somehow get it approved as a way to improve foreign/local relations..and as such they were allowed to come in late to work on mondays because the matches were on sunday nite a ways away from the base. So basically they were getting drunk and playing darts and getting to come into work late because of it.....PLUS, they had the gall to use it in their APR (annual performance report), lol. "Staff Sargent Joe Blow has worked hard to improve local relations by participating in the local......blah blah"

JP

(I wont mention the all star softball turney yalls tax money sent me to over in Italy)

Darts is pretty good fun, I used to play in pub leagues in the UK then Santa cruz calif.
I even enjoy the toy electronic darts they have in bars in the US.
I think the best was a combo summer darts/dominos 5 & 3's allways busy.

Sometimes we play from very far and the goal is to hit the target anywhere, not the wall.

I like to play darts, but I'm not very good, and it's been years since I have even had a board. But now I have an urge to go buy one all of a sudden.

Good darts are the key to good playing

The plastic ones are tough to land anywhere near the board
