Dean Machine Loses Steam
Is Howie in trouble? Quote:
Kerry Pulls Ahead
In a Zogby (search) tracking poll of 503 likely caucus voters released Friday, Kerry's Iowa lead was up to 5 percentage points over Dean and Gephardt, leading the pack for the second day in a row. Kerry had 24 percent of the vote, with Dean and Gephardt garnering 19 percent. Edwards had 17 percent. The poll, which averages support over three days of phone calls from Jan. 13-15, has a margin of error of 4.5 percent. All other candidates had single-digit support and 13 percent of voters were undecided. | Iowa Race Still Too Close to Call

Kind of the same point I made here but I'm glad you brought it up again.
Haven't heard from too many Kerry supporters around here. Wonder why?

[sarcasm]oh darn dean is loosing steam[/sarcasm]
personally i really don't want dean or kerry to win the nomination. i've already decided i'm not voting for bush no matter what, but if either of those guys win i won't vote for them either because i think they are just as dumb if not more so...might have to go third party and throw away my vote. this is rather depressing...i feel like either way i'm voting in someone who will be bad for the country.
too bad clarke isn't a frontrunner, i actually kinda liked him a little. i think i could live with edwards too, although i don't know as much about him so i could be wrong.

What I'm really hoping for is that none of these guys (and I can now say "guys" safely) gets enough delegates going into the convention to be assured of the nomination. (That hasn't happened since 1952.) A compromise candidate like Bradley or Gore would be better than any of this lot. And no, I don't want Hillary to be the nominee...

If it weren't for the anti-war people Kerry would have an overwhelming lead and everyone would be saying "Dean who?"

I have liked Dean because he really lit a fire under everyone's ass. You can tell the man loves to campaign. Hell, he says he loves the film, Bulworth. I watched Kerry on TV about two weeks ago and called his office in Boston and rapped with an aide and told them as a professional actor that he looked and sounded like a block of wood and that he better get animated and show the listener and viewer why he wanted it and that he better stop going after Dean and dig deep inside instead.
Lo and behold he's polished up his act.
Clark made a smart move by advancing right to NH. Anyone with concerns about Dean's temperment will look to Clark. His testimony on the Iraq in 92 to Congress could hurt him and if he doesn't explain what happened at Pristina airfield in Kosovo he's going to get nailed particularly in that he was struggling as a NATO commander with 19 different allies to juggle, each with a real-time, on the ground veto when it came to getting orders to carry out specific actions as part of the engagement. But there are a lot of centrist and "McCain style" Republicans disgusted with their party and looking for a candidate.
Has Dean gotten as much juice as he could out of nailing his opponents on their Iraq war vote? I don't know. Should he move to the center and when?
I am looking hard at Clark but still in Dean's camp because I think he can still float like a butterfly, and sting like a bee and is in a good position to handle questions about his strengths as an administrator. Because look at his opponent.
Many older and wealthier voters will remember Ike. Were Clark somehow to get McCain to be his VP running mate all bets would be off!
If nothing else Dean is the Barry Gp;dwater of the Left, and when was the last time we had one of those?
Liberty in the name of a pint of Ben and Jerry's is no vice!

I knew that once people took a real hard look at who Dean actually is, that his star would fade fast.
