*whew* thank yahoo spam

I noticed some fishy email from Paypal today in my bulk box. It said I had to download some file and run it in order to keep my account activated. I was pretty sure it was illegit and probably a virus and got yahoo to scan it. Whadya know, it's a virus. Good thing yahoo can detect junk like this before it hits my hard drive, save me the hassle of cleaning a bug. But I'm not comfortable with the fact that whoever this email came from knew that I had a Paypal account. Anybody get this kind of thing?

There are a few of these type of things around at the moment - Paypal, MS...

(The MS is critical updates [apparently])

Any e-mails like that, I ignore - and if it seems legit, I go to the official site, and check there, rather than links in the mail itself - saftey first!

Hi Ben,
How long have you had your paypal account with the same Email address??

I change my address about twice a year. I realize its a hassle but I still get "Email from Paypal" on the Email inbox I had changed 2 years ago, so I know its a scam. I didnt keep the other tossable addresses so who knows how many spam messages are being sent to my unused email inboxes.

They don't know that you have a Paypal account, it's just a bulk mailing virus that's all.

Hmm, come to think of it, I just realized that's not the email I use for Paypal, so I guess it sure is a bulk email.

Yeah, I get some of that PayPal stuff myself..and I would not use PayPay with your money..seems like a high percentage of online people do use PayPal..so, the bulk mailing will hit quite a few people.

Thats kinda like the emails floating around where somebodys uncle died in South Africa and he needs somebody in the US to collect 5 million bucks for half of the booty...only you gotta put up $100,000 'honest money' first...yeah..right!!
