Yeap, OSnews and Slashdot have effectively drown the TIMO HTTP server with transaction requests. Even RR is kind of slow right now due to our unified database architecture.

Anyone ever get through to TechIMO since 10:00AM EST? I thought we were decently prepared for Slashdotting, but it appears my estimates were severely off.

That is good, atleast a few people will still be able to read the article. I have been looking for Scott to discuss the server loading problem, but he seems to have stepped out for awhile.

I just hope we got a few thousand hits for TechIMO (publicity) before the server folded, as this overload will effectively kill both TechIMO and PhotoPost operations for today. Only ResellerRatings is operational at this point.

Wow, that is amazing that something of just one article can punch a server down. So what does one need to do in circumstances like this in the future to keep this from happening?
