Getting REALLY hard to help out here!!

I am the first to admit that I know a lot less technically than many people here.

I have been called on it sometimes. (well more than sometimes)

But, jeez, lately some of the thread posters are so unaware of communication skills and not willing to follow or wait for advice that I hesitate to even answer sometimes because I know it's a waste of time.

Hell, a lot of the time all you have to do is "google" the problem and you have the answer.

I need a "smiley" with a "magic wand" so I can wave it and solve the problems.

End of rant.

I feel better now.

Bill

You are likely feeling the inevitable burnout associated with tech support, even if it is on a voluntary basis like in a forum. I believe we have all been there at some point in our online lives.

I had a "printer doesn't work" that was a matter of turning it on, a "can't save this file" where the user was using a / in the file name, and a half dozen other such calls this week. Part of the game, I'm afraid.

google is not always a fix all though, due to the fact that you get sooo much information. the answer may always be there but it may just require a much longer time to locate it.

I don't know if this will bring a smile or a grimace to your face

I just got back from a neighbors house.

Brand new (today) computer.

The description? Computer won't start. there is power the light on the monitor shows that, but the computer won't turn on. No sound, no beeps, no leds on the front, no fans turning. Very unhappy neighbor

The cure? turn on the switch on the power supply!!

Makes you wonder about similar "Help Me" around here doesn't it?
