ya we've had people at work bring up a server, and before they can finish installing SP4 (win2k) its already hit

Just keep clicking your heels and saying "I love Microsoft I love Microsoft" and make sure you upgrade to their latest OS BEFORE it hits the shelves! lol

I think we're still working on implementing it.
We're also a bit behind the times, still on a NT4 domain.
(Long story, lot of politics involved)
I know we use a product called Shavlik (non MS) for patching.
Dunno I do more scripting and MS Exchange so I don't work with SMS or SUS
The best solution would be to update the image
Last I knew the image was still on SP2

Before you plug yourself into the net, set up user passwords and firewall. It should be fine after you do those things.
