Is bush a liar?

In 2000 I made a statement that George Bush was a liar and started a flame war everyone on this board telling me how wrong I was.
" The Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, a liberal-leaning U.S. think tank, issued a report on Thursday that compared public and declassified intelligence information with statements made by administration officials.

It concluded that the administration made the threat from Iraq sound more dire than the underlying information."

"We have found and have gone to some length to define and lay out serious misrepresentation of the facts over and above what was in the intelligence findings," Jessica Mathews, president of the think tank and one of the authors, said.

What amazes me is that this was reported across Europe (I have seen it reported in 3 languages), and each had the following statement by the reporter:

'Yet, strangely this has not been widely reported in America"

Hardly surprising? Who wants to admit to having someone like that in power - the WMD claim is all that separates Bush's war on terror with him being an invader (and being in the wrong)...

November will be the time to rectify this situation, if the people open their eyes and take action. But having little faith in my fellow citzens, Bush will probably be re-elected.

The reason it has not been reported here in the states is simple.
Before the first Gulf war CNN was almost out of business. The war saved them from closing. The rest of the media picked up on this and now they are rabid war hawks.
The $ charged for advertising is dictated by ratings and war is good ratings.
Bottom line war is good business until you go broke.

Whitebeard, if war is such good business, why has CNN consistently lost market share since the early 90's? And where did you read that CNN was "almost out of business" before the Gulf War?

Cnn has lost market share since Msnbc started the same tactics they are no longer the only game in town.

I don't think Bush is a liar. The only reason the word "liar" is bantered about is because Clinton was such a liar, and the Dems are trying to get even.

We know Saddam had a weapons program in the past. We know he did not provide evidence that he abandoned this program and destroyed his weapons. We know there was corroborating evidence (good or bad) that he may still have a program. We know Saddam was not cooperating fully in trying to prove he didn't still have a weapons program. We know there were several UN resolutions requiring this. And we know the UN didn't have the balls to back them up.

Bush absolutely did the right thing. He dethroned Saddam based partly on what was probably bad information. Saddams gone. Hundreds of thousands of lives have been saved. Iraq can rebuild and be better than it ever was under Saddam.

The flipside could have been Bush did nothing (like his predecessor) and the intel turned out to be good. Imagine the consequences of that. The fact is nothing Bush could ever do, no matter how justified and how good for America and the world, would please the liberals that constantly try to crucify him. I’d rather have him piss off a bunch of cry-baby liberals than do nothing. Actually, I get a great deal of entertainment out of it.

I'm glad the same cowards that are against this war weren't against the war 60 years ago or we'd all be typing in German.
