BUSH Goes To MARS ?

Actually, he is only planning on Mexico for now --but that is a step for Mankind !

Then he goes to Mars

Personally I have always considered the 24 $Billion or so spent on Kennedy's proposed Manned Moon landing a huge waste of money.

Imagine if that money -about $100 Billion now --had been spent in other forms of Technological, Medical, and Educational investment?

Ah ! Prestige. Ah ! Politics.

Now Bush, flush with all the attention the sucessful Martian -probe landing must figure, "Why shoulkd the Dems get all the attention with the Iowa Caucuses etc. ?

So off we go again to the Moon and from the Moon to Mars !

Popular, huh ?
Expensive, huh?

Err..Uhmm..WHO gets to pay for this Mission ?
What getrs left in the $Lurch$ ?

Stay tuned to this Channel...

Didn't he see Mars Invades where Jack Nicholson gets the old one-two from the Martian Ambassador?

DOOOOG

Of course, the money WAS invested in technology and virtually all objective analyses of the expenditures of the early space program have concluded that there has been a huge return on this investment.

Whether there will be as good a return on current space research is anyone's guess.

I think that the price should be about the same if not less for a trip to the moon.

Research has been done, New technologies required for this endeavor are limited IMO. This should not cost much more than the 3 or 4 million pounds of fuel and some aluminum and titanium.

Of course let nasa get their hands on it and it will cost 1.5 trillion and it will use 1960 computer technology

Doh! Epidemic , what makes you think NASA will do that well ?

OK,osprey4, I'll grant you that the early space program was a boost to education and technology-if for no reason that it woke up the United States out of its smugness.

I remember when news of Sputnik hit--and how it was viewed with utter awe.

But the moon is 3 days away; how long does it take to travel to Mars?

Ultimately, the real question boils down to manned vs. unmanned. And, can we afford it?

DOOOG

P.S. The timing seems, well... timed !

I am all for space exploration. I would double or triple the budget or push hard for private enterprise to get involved. In fact I would give a monopoly to the corporation and nation that first reaches any planet to exploit it. 20 or 30 years of no competition.

I think that space exploration holds the potential of simple advances to technology all the way to salvation of humanity.

Besides when the end times comes god is going to mess with earth and only earth is stated in the bible. So I am going to wait on the moon or mars for it and at that time convert to the proper faith and return.

don't help the needy, starve em to death and then there are no more needy. A few potential winners will be lost in the mix but end result will be a stronger economy and people who are better off. an end to poverty.

Helping the needy has diminishing returns as they breed more needy at a faster rate then the successful people.~

You should remember the saying!

There for the grace of God go I.

Someday the shoe may be on the other foot.

Actually I can say with great confidence that the shoe will not be on the other foot.

If I am physically able to work I will work. If I am not satisfied with my lot in life I will remake myself, move, and succeed to varying levels.

I truely have not got a problem helping the needy. Key operative NEED. I can not understand the concept of staying where there is no work, crime is high and it is too expensive to live. OOPS that happened to me and I moved.
