Suing Wal-Mart, Lesson #2741, the over-filled bag

If previous attempts to extort money from the world's largest retailer fails, you might want to have your lawyer sue over this issue.

Simply fill your plastic bag with several heavy items and drop it on your foot.

Expected settlement, $30,000.

Next week, how to sue Wal-Mart over clothing that makes you look too fat.

I wouldn't try to fraud Wal-Mart. They probably have the clerk on tape who filled that bag!

If the people thought the bag was too full, why didn't they carry the bag from the bottom?

The husband is suing for the loss of his wife's "consortium". I thought she only hurt her foot.

RayH because people need not be responsible for their own actions in this litigious society. Time was that an accident was just that an accident.

Basically absent malice there were no lawsuits AFAIAC.

Now the simplest of mistakes brings you to court and if your pockets are deep enough juries are 50/50 going to go for you winning the jury lottery.

I just was raised different than that. I injured myself running across a school field that had a chuckhole in it. I layed myself up for a couple of weeks with tourn ligaments lost wages medical bills and all that rot. I thought to myself MY bad should have looked where I was going. too many people would have said that hole should not have been there and therefore you owe me money for leaving it there.

seriously epidemic. even i was raised better than that, and i'm still a youngin'. when i was younger i was playing soccer and someone kicked the ball just right that it hit me in the mouth and chipped a tooth really badly and knocked it kinda sideways permanently (still have it)...i thought "my bad, i should have blocked the shot with something other than my mouth."

Here's another one that ranks right up there with the mcdonald's lady on the stupidity scale

Wal-Mart, should just let the stupid people pack thier own bags.

The most stupidest thing that they said:

Her husband also is seeking that amount in damages, claiming that as a result of his wife's injuries he has been deprived of her attention and comfort and suffered a loss of consortium.

Dont get me wrong you can never say never and never say all.

I see a trend of people who do not take responsibility and an increasing number of people who support their iresponsibility.

there are still people who fight the good fight.

But tell me this would you consider a lawsuit if you thought you had a 90% chance of receiving a few million bucks.

I am tempted but it goes against my grain so I will never act on my temptation that is why I proposed my

tort reform post a year or so ago.

Great, and now they're going to stick a warning label on the bags:

Quote:
Warning, do not overfill bag
I believe in Darwin's theory of evolution. I vote we take off all the warning labels and let things work themselves out on their own.

HERE HERE!!

i can't say that i would turn down the offer if i had a 90% chance of winning...i am only human, but i would try to. Also i just never tend to think of things that way. i've never really thought of things happening to me that are not my fault and i am entitled to be compensated. just not my style of thinking i guess. at least i've never thought like that before when it comes to stuff like this.
