Holy crud batman (what is it about the word illegal do you not understand)

Amnesty for 10 million people "illegals and their families"

Interesting that they make a distinction between illegals and their families. (If born in the us you are a citizen) so where is the distinction for and their families.

Perhaps it is one of those great book keeping things. Where the only person considered illegal is the head of house so they do not have to say it is 13 or 14 million illegals.

Anyway; No jobs for illegals, no services for illegals, no life in america for illegals. that might stem the tide.

Again if there is no work (as enforced by heavy fines on employers of illegals) the incentive to cross into the US would dry up.

ohhhhh noooooooooooo! here is Bush's plan. We will reward the illegals (and contrary to the goal of not restricting legals the end result will be a restriction and slow down of the people who play by the rules) and punish those seeking legal access.

The incentive to sneak in has just increased. With improved perception of the ease of making it in the US comes more illegals IMO.

Bahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh! In this case I cant even vote libertarian.

'No man is an ISLAND" My arse. Apparently I am an island in a sea of stupidity.

Treat it like a cattle drive,
"round em up, move em out".
The key word here is "illegal".They try to make it sound acceptable by changing the term to "undocumeted",still means the same thing, they are here illegally and should be treated like all other persons who break the law.

I find rounding them up to be a bit difficult.

It is easy to check employers because there are only a few million of them. A few example cases of fining people 1000 bucks with maids, grounds keepers, and illegal field hands. Restrict the ability of business to employ and they will leave of their own accord.

Bush is just trying to pander to the Hispanic vote.

Has it not occurred to everyone yet that under this President the U.S. government and its policies are up for sale? Large corporate donors get a chunk of the budget, friends of Cheney get theirs so why not a bone for the Hispanics in Florida?

Of course there is the flip side to that argument.

Democrats do it as well usually on subjects I do not agree with.

This pandering offends me as much as most of democrat pandering does.

We need a guest worker program here. On the positive side, this may eventually help improve working conditions in the fields. If workers do not have to live in fear of "la migra" they will have more of a voice.

I'm sure Chuckiechan will disagree.

I do not have a problem with a guest worker program. however all illegals should not be elligible.

The millions of people waiting for legal access to the US several years to decades can surely fit the bill.

NO work for Illegals, No services for illegals, no schools for illegals.

You do not favor people who have broken the law over people trying to do things right. You do not reward illegal activities with jobs which only fuels incentive for illegals.

There's a fair mexican population (and growing fast) that can vote for Bush... let all of their families stay in the country... lots of votes for him..
Its election year after all.

Doesn't this initiative tend to upset Bush's primary support base? Will there be a rebellion or will they hold their tongue.

"Would everyone please move to the center..... yes, to the center please....... thank you."

$10 says that he makes part of the announcement in Spanish.

Well even with this wart. Who am I going to vote for? Dean kerry sharpton? I do not hear them screaming about eliminating the incentive which draws illegals (Jobs). If one of them offered up a solid plan to fine employers progressively for illegally employing illegals than I might have to consider. Other than that bush still has me on.

Economy
