Hey desmo, you think that suspicious lady was just wearing a heated biker jacket?
*edit* yep it was cycle jacket.

Could be worse with the HSA looking out for "****** bombs"(C4 explosive smuggled aboard, removed in the lavatory and detonated).

Don't know man. I worked for the TSA for a bit..uhh, I aint going there...
They need work, I'll just leave it at that..

I would wonder if they weren't onto somebody on the flight and let them board, then when the plane took off, boo-ya.. fighters alongside. BUSTED!

Instead of cancelling the flight and letting them know they were going to be looked at.

Ye Gods!!.. I never even thought of that. What kind of damage could 5 pounds of C4 do in an airliner?..

Airline security is a placebo.

There is no way to detect an internal explosive using conventional means. A determined bomber could implant boobie bombs (14 lbs of explosive if the person is willing to die)

the gastro intestinal tract works pretty good for smuggling. Then there is still the old jump the fence at the right moment and you can access a plane with anything you want with out being inspected.

Blades made from glass/ceramic as well as hard plastics are undetectable with current lax checking proceedures. Heck My guess is that even their sniffing equipment could not detect an altered shaving cream can with a false charge of foam for security guards to check.

a bar of soap probably could be smuggled in with out effort undetected . Hermetically seal a bar of c/4 inside of a bar of soap. There is no effective way to avoid it AFAIAC.

I would love to have a job as a security analyst where I check the checkers.

The ETD equipment in place now is VERY sensitive It can pick up traces of explosives in amounts that are very minute.

I will not go into detail, but having had the training, I was amazed at the detection level. Some of the operators, well, that's a different story..
They actually have teams that do check security.

I wish I could be a fly on the wall when they get their intel on what has been going on recently. I would really like to know what has come about that has caused such caution. It must have been something big and something specific for such a rash of security stoppages to have occurred recently.

As I said in another thread on a completely unrelated topic, better safe than sorry if there is a real potential threat. I don't support safety measures that break constitutional rights and freedoms, but this does not appear to fall into that category. It is simply an inconvenience and short delay for those onboard.

I wonder if it can pick up gunpowder residue. For instance, I wonder if you go to the firing range one morning and then have an afternoon flight and have the residue detected.

This is a rhetorical question- I am not asking you to break any confidences you have in regards to your training.
