The times I have seen studies on it...it was presumed it would be using the Greek alphabet..since that is what the NEw Testament was written in....then again, it doesnt state that at all....doesnt really state how it is to be found.

King James--> Here is wisdom. Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast: for it is the number of a man; and his number [is] Six hundred threescore [and] six.

New King James---->Here is wisdom. Let him who has understanding calculate the number of the beast, for it is the number of a man: His number [is] 666.

(so actually is doesnt say his NAME adds up to 666..it says "HIS number is 666)

But it does say to "calculate" it.

Anyway....I think they call this type of study..."gematria"

They get into "numerical value" and "place value" etc

But I thought ya'll might be interested in some long known facts about the different names in the Bible for Satan...of course he is called many names in the Bible.

But, almost all of them break down with the number 13 in them, lol.

"Dragon" has a # value of 975, or 13x3x5x5

Tempter= #value of 1053 (13x3x3x3), place value of 91 (13x7), total value of 1144 (13x11x2x2x2)

Belial= #val of 78 (13x3x2), place value of 39 (13x3), total val of 117 (13x3x3)

Murderer= #val of 1820 (13x7x5x2x2)

Serpent= #value of 780 (13x3x2x2x5)

The phrase in rev 12.9 "called the devil and satan" has a #val of 2197 (13x13x13) lol

Now, I know you dont all believe in God...but, err....I cant see chucking those names to just mere coincidence. No matter how folks try to "late date" the Bible....it just bears out too many ways that this book isnt the work of man. No way.

If it is..why hasnt there been ANY OTHER book remotely like it?

Or...try this....get the smartest scholars, also using computer aid, and write you a nice little book like the Bible....using several languages...forecasting the future...also, since you dont believe in Jesus resurrection etc (or even His existence)..in this new book you are making..go ahead and base it around a mythological man who does all sorts of miraculous things.....hehe...let me know how well that book takes off, lol. Oh yeah, and write it in an age when the average person cant read anyway and there are no printing presses etc..hence no way to make any $$$ off of it.

But, preaching aside now......I assume then that the way to "calculate" 666 would somehow be along those same lines.

Seems in history people have calculated Napoleon and others to add up....maybe also Ronald Reagan, lol.

If you look hard enough...and spend enough time you can always find a pattern for anything. Thats the beauty of numbers. Anyone watch the movie "Pi"?
