Sleeping Patterns

Does anyone else have really strange sleeping patterns?

I don't sleep... I'll stay up for hours on end and then go to bed.. Not because I'm tired, but just because I realize that I (unfortunately) require sleep every now and then.

And then, when I do go to sleep - I'll sleep for 12 hours! And even then... dragging myself out of bed is the last thing I want to do.

I'm not sure what causes this... I eat very well, I get exercise quite often and I'm otherwise perfectly healthy.

Is this normal? Should I go to the doctor? What can a doctor do? It's not like I'm an insomniac and I could just get sleeping pills.

Anyone else have similiar experiences?

I'm like that when I'm on vacation and sometimes on the weekends. Even during the week when I'm working (I work regular 9-5) I'll say up until 2 or 3 in the morning before going to bed because I'm WIRED. Even though I haven't had anything that would cause that to happen.

Some days I'm tired at 10pm, some I'm not.

I don't know what causes this.

Most people need 8 hours of sleep. Looks like I need 10.

Getting up because of the clock and not because my body is ready is a painful process.

I have no discipline when it comes to going to sleep. Usually between 9 PM and 12 AM on normal days. No matter how many hours I sleep, my body has to wake up by itself, else I have a hard time in the morning (happens often).
