I thought I was going to follow up the "Idiot tip of the day" post from like a month back. Here we go:
Unknowing of the fact that my own stupidity would cause me pain in a few minutes I stepped into my kitchen to prepare an evening meal. I decided from looking through my rather limited food supplies that I was going to enjoy a splendid meal of noodles and fishsticks.
Everything was almost ready, and I was pouring the water off the noodles. I'm a lazy person who's not much for doing dishes, so I pour the water off with the lid slightly displaced so the water go out but the noodles stay in.
Here's the moment where my brain stopped functioning. I suddenly decided to speed things up. So I turned the whole pot upside-down. Now the reason you never do that is that the water stops coming out from one place, and unless you apply sufficient pressure on the lid and keep it straight, the pot will turn into a fountain. A fountain of boiling water.
This resulted in me burning my whole right hand. You learn something new everyday.
It's kinda like speeding really fast and then getting pulled over... takes you 15 mins to fix the problem... it ended up taking longer when you WOULD have only save 1 or 2 mins....
Wow....they outta outlaw those noodles, or at least have some kind of training, waiting period, warning label, integrated noodle lock....gosh....something.
You contained the steam---and it "let itself out" being so powerful---ever see someone put something REAL hot in a blender pop the lid on and fire it up?
Instant food decorated room and user from the steam blasting the lid off... Yummm pureed asperagus soup everywhere---
(loosen the lid and/or use a kitchen towel on the blender)
