Now I am old enough to rember when Congress passed its first major Education Act. Because there is no clear mandate for the Federal Government to finance local education,it tried to make it read like a defense appropriations measure in the hope that it would get by any Supreme Court challange.
The National Defense Education Act. hence was born in the 'sputnik' era as a 'cold war' measure.
Today many Dental Schools are having a hard time meting their entering classes, because of the expense of a Dental education and high "start-up" costs, won't justify the low fees Gov't and Insurance Co's have imposed.
Now ask yourselves:
Where will the US get its Engineers and Technical professions in the future, when students see they can't get a job in the US, or the salaries become competitively low?
How about a
National Defense Education Act, Part II , that prohibits the practice of exporting high-education jobs ?
